What Is BPC-157?

BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide — a chain of 15 amino acids — derived from a protein naturally found in human gastric juice. It is one of the most extensively researched regenerative peptides in the preclinical literature, with a remarkable breadth of healing activity across musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, neurological, and vascular systems.

Unlike many peptides that work through a single pathway, BPC-157 interacts with multiple overlapping repair mechanisms simultaneously — including angiogenesis, nitric oxide signalling, fibroblast activation, growth factor upregulation, and the gut-brain axis. This makes it uniquely versatile among healing compounds.

It is widely used in research settings to study accelerated recovery from tendon, ligament, muscle, and gut injuries, as well as systemic inflammation reduction. Its origin in gastric tissue also gives it a particularly strong affinity for gastrointestinal repair.

How It Works — Mechanism of Action

1. Accelerates Tendon & Ligament Repair

BPC-157 upregulates key growth factors including VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) and FGF (fibroblast growth factor), while stimulating the activity of collagen-producing fibroblasts. The result is faster, stronger connective tissue healing — including in notoriously slow-healing structures like tendons and ligaments that have limited blood supply.

2. Enhances Angiogenesis (New Blood Vessel Formation)

By promoting the formation of new capillaries at injury sites, BPC-157 dramatically improves the delivery of oxygen, nutrients, and immune cells to damaged tissue — while accelerating the removal of inflammatory waste products. This is especially critical for tissues that heal poorly due to poor vascularisation.

3. Protects & Regenerates Nerves

BPC-157 stabilises the nitric oxide (NO) signalling system, which plays a central role in neuroprotection and nerve regeneration. Research suggests it may protect against nerve crush injuries and help restore function in damaged peripheral nerves.

4. Repairs the Gut Lining

Given its natural origin in gastric juice, BPC-157 has a powerful affinity for gastrointestinal tissue. It supports repair of the gastric mucosa and intestinal lining, promotes healing of ulcers, and helps regulate the gut-brain axis. Many researchers note improvements in mood and cognitive clarity that they attribute to BPC-157's gut-brain signalling effects.

5. Reduces Systemic Inflammation

BPC-157 downregulates key pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNF-α and IL-6, and reduces oxidative stress markers throughout the body. This makes it particularly relevant for chronic injury and inflammatory conditions where persistent inflammation is the primary obstacle to healing.

6. Synergistic with TB-500

BPC-157 and TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4) are widely considered the strongest tissue-healing stack available in the research peptide space. BPC-157 drives local repair and collagen alignment; TB-500 provides systemic cell migration and angiogenic support. Together they cover complementary healing pathways comprehensively.

  • Improved joint mobility and range of motion
  • Reduced inflammatory load following high-volume or high-intensity training

Neurological Support

  • Nerve inflammation and impingement-related pain
  • Sciatica
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Central sensitisation conditions

Dosing & Administration

Standard Dose: 250–500 mcg per injection Frequency: 1–2 times daily Route: Subcutaneous injection

Injection Site Selection (Important)

  • General systemic healing → Inject into abdominal fat or outer thigh
  • Localised injury healing → Inject subcutaneously near (but never directly into) the injured site. This is believed to enhance local delivery of the peptide's healing effects to the specific tissue

Cycle Length

  • 4–6 weeks on, repeat as needed based on recovery progress
  • No mandatory off period, though cycling is generally recommended
  • Can be run continuously in lower doses for ongoing gut health support under medical guidance

Reconstitution

  • Add bacteriostatic water to lyophilised powder
  • Swirl gently — never shake
  • Refrigerate at 2–8°C and use within 28 days
  • Discard if solution is cloudy or contains visible particles

⚠️ Important: Begin at 250 mcg/day and assess tolerance before increasing. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before commencing any peptide protocol, particularly if you have a history of cancer, autoimmune conditions, or are taking anticoagulant medications.

Side Effects & Safety

BPC-157 is regarded as having a strong safety profile in preclinical research, with no established toxic dose identified in animal studies. Human data remains limited to anecdotal and observational reports, as large-scale human clinical trials have not yet been completed.

Reported side effects (generally mild)

  • Injection site redness, mild swelling, or bruising — particularly with inconsistent site rotation
  • Mild nausea or digestive discomfort in the first few days — often transient
  • Mild dizziness or light-headedness, especially if injecting in a dehydrated state
  • Vivid dreams reported by some users — likely related to gut-brain axis activity

Who should exercise caution or avoid use

  • Individuals with a personal or family history of cancer — BPC-157's pro-angiogenic and growth-factor-stimulating properties mean it should not be used without oncology consultation in this context
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
  • Individuals with known autoimmune conditions — immune modulation should be approached with medical supervision
  • Those on anticoagulant therapy — BPC-157's effects on blood vessel formation may interact with these medications

Who Is BPC-157 Best Suited For?

Athletes & Gym-Goers

Dealing with tendon pain, overuse injuries, muscle tears, or persistent joint inflammation that is limiting training capacity or quality of life.

Rehabilitation Patients

Post-surgical recovery, joint injury rehabilitation, or those recovering from rotator cuff, hip, knee, or ankle injuries.

Gut Health

Individuals experiencing IBS, chronic bloating, gastritis, leaky gut, or long-term digestive inflammation who have not found adequate relief through conventional approaches.

Synergy Stacks

Ultimate Injury Recovery Stack: BPC-157 + TB-500

The most widely used peptide healing combination. BPC-157 drives local collagen repair and fibroblast activation; TB-500 provides systemic actin regulation and angiogenesis. Together they are significantly more effective than either peptide alone for musculoskeletal injuries.

Gut Repair Stack: BPC-157 + KPV + Glutathione

Targets gut inflammation from multiple angles — BPC-157 repairs the mucosal lining, KPV modulates immune-driven gut inflammation, and Glutathione provides antioxidant protection to gut epithelial cells.

Post-Surgery Recovery: BPC-157 + TB-500 + Vitamin Infusions

A comprehensive tissue regeneration protocol for post-operative recovery, combining peptide healing with micronutrient repletion.

Joint Degeneration Support: BPC-157 + NAD+
